A few months ago, I sat down with Claire’s parents and her sister, Alixx, to talk about the future of Claire’s Promise…what we hoped to build, who we hoped to reach, and how we could keep Claire’s light shining in ways that truly mattered.
During that conversation, one idea kept coming back to my heart: How do we explain Claire’s story, and the dangers of impaired driving, to children in a way that is gentle, loving, and age-appropriate? I shared this with Alixx, not knowing how deeply it would resonate.
Without hesitation, Alixx took this idea and ran with it. She poured her heart into writing a children’s book that tells Claire’s story in a way that children can understand…focusing on love, choices, safety, and the impact one life can have on so many others. Even more special, her daughter, Claire’s goddaughter, Jae, brought the story to life through her illustrations. Each page carries the love of a family honoring someone they miss dearly.
This book became more than a project. It became part of a healing journey. For Alixx, it was a way to process grief and turn pain into purpose. For their family and for Claire’s Promise, it became a way to reach the next generation with a message that can save lives.
Today, this book stands as a tribute to Claire’s life, her joy, and the love that still surrounds her.
